日本民進黨眾議員山尾志櫻里今（7）日遭媒體爆料疑似外遇，引發黨內議論，晚間山尾志櫻里現身，表示自己已經提出退黨申請，對於媒體爆料內容並未否認，僅強調兩人並非男女關係。
綜合媒體報導，日本民進黨本月1日選出新任黨魁，前外務大臣前原誠司當選黨主席，而據傳他有意啟用山尾志櫻里擔任幹事長一職，但隨後便傳出有周刊掌握山尾志櫻里外遇的消息，5日山尾志櫻里便婉拒了出任幹事長的邀請。
日本雜誌《週刊文春》今日報導，現年43歲、已婚並育有一子的山尾志櫻里，在內定即將成為民進黨首位女性幹事長的2日晚間，與一名小他9歲的已婚律師在東京一間高級飯店內共度一夜，更稱兩人自去年起便開始頻繁見面。
報導一出引發民進黨內議論，不少黨內人士更擔憂此事可能影響接下來的眾議員補選，而山尾志櫻里晚間也現身表示，與該名律師並非男女關係，對於此事為黨內及支持者帶來困擾感到非常抱歉，也決定提出退黨申請。
民進黨幹事長大島敦則表示，山尾志櫻里已提出退黨申請書，黨內將再討論如何處理。
